The Position: The Business Systems Consultant – Sales will lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of mission-critical platforms that support our Sales and Marketing functions, including CPQ, CRM, and other customer engagement systems. This role will serve as a trusted advisor and key liaison between our business stakeholders and technical teams. They will collaborate cross-functionally with all areas of Sales to understand business requirements that need to be supported by IT and prioritize accordingly. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture, the position will strive to continuously improve the productivity and efficiency of our Sales, Marketing and Aftermarket business processes.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and IT leaders to understand business strategies and translate them into high-level technology roadmaps.
  • Define and design enterprise application architectures for sales, marketing, and customer engagement systems.
  • Drive business capability modeling and gap analysis to inform technology investments.
  • Lead the end-to-end evaluation and selection of CPQ, CRM, and related platforms, including RFI/RFQ processes, vendor scoring, and business case development.
  • Develop selection criteria based on strategic goals, functional needs, integration fit, and total cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate with implementation partners, internal developers, and system integrators to ensure quality delivery.
  • Oversee requirements gathering, solution design, testing, data migration, training, and change management activities.
  • Understand business and technology challenges and needs and prioritize IT work accordingly.
  • Provide guidance on Business process alignment with technology in use.
  • Communicate status of projects, escalating risks or issues as required.
  • Stay abreast of emerging digital technology trends in support of Sales processes through self-enrichment and continuing education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or Computer Science preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years work experience in consulting, sales operations and/or IT implementing enterprise business systems, including CRM and CPQ platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle CPQ, Tacton, PROS, Dynamics).
  • Skills: Strong understanding of sales operations, lead/opportunity management, pricing strategy, and configure-to-order processes.
  • Strong cross-functional business acumen, ideally in B2B manufacturing company with ETO or CTO environment.
  • Proven track record in all aspects of project management including scope, resource, schedule and budget management.
  • Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening) from subordinate, to peer, to executive management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to gain alignment amongst disparate parties.
  • Strong sense of urgency and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic that emphasizes customer focus, quality and resource management.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Ability to work alone and in a team setting.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Travel: Up to 50% at times
