Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Commercial Operations to lead and oversee critical operational functions within our organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Commercial Excellence, the Director will have responsibility for driving success across pricing strategy and operations, demand planning and scheduling, finished goods inventory and outbound traffic, sales operations, business intelligence and analytics, and market intelligence. This role will bring a combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and leadership experience to guide and support the teams executing these functions.

Responsibilities

  • Pricing Strategy and Operations:
    • Lead and manage the pricing strategy team, ensuring pricing models are competitive and aligned with business objectives.
    • Oversee the implementation of pricing processes and policies to ensure consistency and profitability.
    • Collaborate with the sales, finance, and marketing teams to ensure the pricing strategy supports overall revenue and customer profitability goals.
    • Evaluate and optimize pricing models by monitoring market trends and competitor pricing strategies.
  • Demand Planning and Scheduling:
    • Lead the demand planning and scheduling team to ensure accurate demand forecasts and effective resource allocation across production and sales.
    • Ensure the team collaborates closely with sales, production, and inventory teams to optimize production scheduling and capacity utilization.
    • Oversee the development of accurate demand plans that minimize stockouts and excess inventory, and align with sales projections.
  • Finished Goods Inventory and Outbound Traffic:
    • Manage the finished goods inventory and outbound traffic teams to ensure efficient management of stock and timely delivery of products.
    • Oversee the development of inventory management systems and processes to optimize stock levels, reduce costs, and improve order fulfillment.
    • Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to streamline outbound shipping, reducing lead times and transportation costs while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Operations:
    • Lead the sales operations team, ensuring alignment between sales goals and operational processes.
    • Manage the implementation of sales tools, CRM systems, and reporting tools to streamline sales workflows and improve sales team productivity.
    • Work closely with the sales leadership team to provide support on sales performance tracking, forecasting, and pipeline management.
    • Ensure the sales operations team supports the development and execution of sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics:
    • Oversee the business intelligence and analytics team to ensure timely and actionable reporting on commercial KPIs.
    • Drive the development of data analytics solutions that provide insights into sales trends, pricing, demand, and inventory, supporting decision-making across the organization.
    • Lead the team in producing high-quality business reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to inform strategic initiatives and drive operational improvements.
  • Market Intelligence:
    • Manage the market intelligence team to gather and analyze competitor data, market trends, and customer insights.
    • Lead efforts to identify opportunities for growth and recommend adjustments to strategies based on market analysis.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing and product development, to ensure insights are applied to refine go-to-market strategies and product offerings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial operations, pricing strategy, demand planning, sales operations, or similar roles.
  • Proven track record in leading teams and managing cross-functional collaboration in operational settings.
  • Strong knowledge of demand planning, sales operations, pricing strategy, and inventory management.
  • Extensive experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel)
  • Excellent business acumen, strategic planning, analytical, communication, project management, stakeholder management, and change management skills
  • Demonstrated capability to translate growth strategies into practical sales plans, best practices, and operational structures across multiple business models and customer experiences
  • Leadership impact and ability to consult with and challenge business leaders at multiple levels within the organization regarding needs, gaps, and operational plans
  • Superior communicator able to assemble and clearly articulate key strategies, plans, and reports aligned to drive tangible business impact
  • Strong listening and facilitation skills
