The Position: The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer Manager is to manage and provide technical leadership necessary to achieve long range automation goals throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for return on investments relating to the facility and equipment. Manages the plant capital budget by
proposing, justifying, and implementing improvements to processes, equipment, and plant layout.
• Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors. Supervises the completion of projects by outside contractors.
• Directs the supervision of the maintenance and manufacturing engineering functions. Participates in the selection of
personnel; also guides, counsels, directs, motivates, evaluates, etc. Recommends retention, promotability, and salary
actions. Ensures that employees are trained and attuned to current and future GDT objectives.
• Oversees direct reports. Ensures that subordinate supervisors are requiring safety compliance and any standards
that apply. Investigates employee suggestions, concerns, etc. Evaluates and responds as appropriate.
• Ensures compliance with all mandated regulations, as well as GDT rules and regulations.
• Reviews proposed disciplinary actions. Ensures completeness, fairness, consistency, and overall company interest.
• Ensures compliance with all environmental regulations. Arranges compliance inspections with insurance providers
and regulatory personnel. Initiates action on recommendations and deficiencies.
• Establishes the parameters and procedures for the standard hours program and ensures accuracy of established
standards.
• Manages budget and semi-variable expenses related to manufacturing engineering and maintenance.
• Assists in the implementation of the "WINGS" employee suggestion program
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience or the equivalent
combination of experience and/or education is required for this position.
• Skills:
o Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
o Asset justification
o Industrial engineering skills such as work measurement, labor reporting and plant layout
o Understanding of building and maintenance contracts including liability issues
o Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes
o Computer skills including MS Office and AutoCAD
o Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills
o Strong communication and organization skills
o Understanding of compliance regulations and codes
• Travel: Up to 50%
