The Position: The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer Manager is to manage and provide technical leadership necessary to achieve long range automation goals throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop and maintain a team of engineers and technicians needed in the development of in-house automation equipment and fixturing.
  • Responsible for return on investments relating to automated equipment and processes. Manages the capital budgets by proposing and justifying equipment costs.
  • Interact with plant level Manufacturing Engineering departments to determine needs and develop equipment.
  • Develop and oversee prototype automation equipment for assembly processes.
  • Vet ideas, lead, and participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
  • Determine equipment requirements, design specs, and component selection.
  • Implement new and revised technologies to improve quality and productivity.
  • Types of projects include equipment replacement/upgrade, new application of technologies, and process and equipment development.
  • Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors and vendors. Supervises the completion of projects by outside contractors.
  • Ensures compliance with all mandated regulations, as well as GDT rules and regulations.
  • Reviews proposed disciplinary actions. Ensures completeness, fairness, consistency, and overall company interest.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

YOUR SKILLS & ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of experience and/or education is required for this position.
  • Skills:
    • In depth knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
    • Technical knowledge in mechanical design
    • Technical knowledge in machine function, PLC, servo drives, and electronic systems
    • Hands on experience mechanical/electrical
    • Mentor and develop entry level engineers
    • Remote troubleshooting
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes.
    • Computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
    • Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication and organization skills
    • Understanding of compliance regulations and codes
  • Travel: Occasional.
